Debacle?

I still keep running into people on the web who say that "everybody agrees that Iraq is totally screwed up/a debacle". As thought reading a few blogs who agree with you somehow makes you an expert.

So, in the interests of showing you a more balanced view, see this.

I work at a base near Taji. The MSR (main highway through Iraq for military convoys) just south of my base is the most dangerous part. The locals toss rockets and some mortars at us every few days. They try to infiltrate and plant IEDs.

Yet, every day convoys roll, soldiers go out on patrol and return and more and more Iraqis come here to work and improve themselves.

It may not be wonderful, but as we used to say "a 70% solution acted on today is better than a 100% solution tomorrow."
