Small world

I was at the pool yesterday playing water volleyball when I came across some people. One guy is from Fresno, very cool, completely sarcastic though.

Another lives about 15 minutes from Quincy, IL. He used to run a concession stand every year at the Air Games. He was pretty annoyed when the cops beat that kid and we moved it to Rantool. He still wanted to go, but of course he's in Iraq. Has probably 30 tandem jumps, but no A licence. Good kid.

I haven't run into too many people I know from the service, but that's probably because all my peers are in post-command slots. Non-FORSCOM stuff.

Still I really appreciate all the help I get every day from people here. Say what you will, but I've never had a problem building relationships with them. Great people. Instead of constant "no", I get a lot of "how can I/we help you". Real professionals. It's a pleasure to work with them.

Next time you see a soldier remember that they're doing a tough job well. And doing it very professionally. Give them a pat on the back.
